Upon completing your order at checkout, you will be charged for your pre-order purchase. You may cancel your order for a full refund at any time, up until 30 days after you receive the product.
Bundle purchases offer significant savings on keyboards. If you purchase an Airwave bundle, your keyboard will be delivered immediately so that you can use it immediately. If you decide to cancel the Airwave purchased as part of a Bundle, you will forego the bundle discount and be refunded the difference between the Airwave price and the discount.
Airwave pre-order batch numbers will be indicated on your order confirmation email. The batches will be shipped as follows:
Batch 1 - Early March 2025
Batch 2 - Mid March 2025
Batch 3 - End of March 2025
Batch 4 - Early April 2025
Batch 5 - End of April 2025
We expect very high demand, which means the first few batches may sell out very quickly. If you purchased Airwave as part of an instrument bundle, your other products will be arriving soon. You’ll receive a shipment confirmation once they’re on the way.
Airwave is available in bundles with Seaboard 2 and Piano M. You can shop Airwave bundles for Learn and Create.
Airwave comes with ROLI Airwave Player (Beta), an inspiring plug-in, compatible with most DAWs and packed with 100+ ready-made sounds for performing with gestural control.
Yes! Airwave works best with ROLI instruments for up to 10 dimensions of expression. Airwave is compatible with all third-party MIDI keyboards to unlock the Five Dimensions of Air — Air Raise, Air Tilt, Air Glide, Air Slide, and Air Flex — using natural hand movements. It will also work with LUMI Keys and older generations of Seaboard, excluding Seaboard Grand.
Airwave is not compatible with Lightpads as it is specifically designed to work with ROLI keyboard.
Airwave is exciting, new technology that we’re eager to share with the world. It adds powerful new capabilities to our existing instruments, and announcing it at this early stage allows us to communicate our vision for the future of music with new and old members of the ROLI community.
At launch, Airwave will include 100 bespoke Airwave sounds. Designed from scratch, Airwave sounds offer a sonic complexity not yet seen in any other instrument. These sounds are twice as complex as MPE sounds, surpassing the sonic range of 2D sounds.
Each Airwave sound contains hundreds of mappings and assignments. This means you have countless ways to interact with and create richly detailed new sounds with each intuitive gesture. Combine different dimensions of Air as you move your hands within a 3D space. One preset can contain a multitude of tones and timbres, giving you the freedom to explore new sonic landscapes.
The base sounds and the core set of Airwave features, including the five dimensions of air, will always be free. Additional sounds will be made available as soundpacks in our Sound Store. New features may be made available via subscriptions or future upgrades.
By default, Airwave only works with Airwave sounds. In the future, Airwave will have the ability to control all sounds and effects for an even more intuitive music-making experience.
Airwave’s dimensions of air will generate MIDI CCs, which can be manually mapped to parameters in your DAW or third-party soft synthesizers.
There are five dimensions of Air in total. At launch, Airwave will support Air Raise, Air Tilt, and Air Glide, Air Slide, and Air Flex. All Airwave presets support the full range of dimensions.
Yes. Airwave is ideal for use in live performances. It allows you to express yourself freely on stage and adds a memorable visual experience for your audience. Airwave is compatible with all major DAWs and other popular live performance software.
Airwave will work with the latest version of both macOS and Windows at launch.
We recommend connecting Airwave directly to your computer without using a USB hub. If you do require a hub, we recommend using a mains-powered USB 3.0 (or greater) hub from a reputable brand. If using a USB adapter or extension, ensure that the total cable length between Airwave and your computer is less than two meters, and that all components are rated USB 3.0 or higher.
Not during the daytime. Sunlight, even on a cloudy day, can overpower the infrared LEDs that Airwave uses to detect your movements.
Airwave tracks accurately in most typical home studios, venues, and indoor creative spaces. However, having many objects near your keyboard can occasionally cause dropouts if Airwave mistakes them for a hand. In general, Airwave will track your hands most reliably when placed away from large windows or bright sunlight as these affect the performance of the infrared sensors in the Airwave. The Airwave Player software includes a slider for adjusting its hand-tracking sensitivity to your environment.
