New in ROLI Learn: Guided Practice and new two-handed lessons
Some exciting updates just landed in the ROLI Learn app. Check out what’s new.
We’ve made some major updates in the ROLI Learn app that we know you’re going to love. Read on to see what the latest updates are and the new changes we’ve made to improve your piano learning experience.
Guided Practice mode
Take steps towards piano mastery with a brand new feature that guides you as you practice, and lets you progress at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Guided Practice appears as the default way to coach you through any song in the ROLI Learn app. Practice at your own tempo, gradually easing into the song and only progressing when you’re ready. Work through the song note by note, then move through slow, medium, and full speeds until you can play comfortably. And with more features like metronome, looping, and four playing views that progress you from cascading notes through to sheet music.
With Airwave, you can unlock even more features and feedback that make your practice more fun and rewarding. A new finger guidance feature lets you see your hands on the screen with strings connecting each finger to each note, and guides your hands into position. The strings also guide your fingers through cross-overs as you play. This feature can be toggled on or off, so you always have a helpful guide visual when you need it. With Airwave, you don’t just learn what to play, you learn how to play it.
Scores to help track your progress.
When you practice with ROLI Learn, Piano, and Airwave, you can unlock special feedback scores to guide you on your learning journey. Position scores show you whether you used the correct fingers, and Posture scores show you how well you maintained hand and wrist posture.
A smoother learning experience
We’ve made some exciting updates to the lesson content, too. The ROLI Learn app now guides you through a smooth, linear progression, gradually introducing new skills like technique, music theory, and two-handed playing, making progression more fun and achievable.
As you move through the stages, your skills will grow — but the key is repetition! Keep practicing lesson challenges until you can play them confidently and smoothly.
New two-handed piano lessons
ROLI Piano lessons have now been added to help you master two-handed playing, with:
48 new lessons in Stage 1
61 new lessons in Stage 2
27 new lessons in Stage 3
Stage Overview
Stage 1: Simple songs you can play with just one finger per hand — a perfect way to get started. Lessons guide you with single fingers or fixed hand positions, showing you which notes to play and which finger to use.
Stage 2: Step it up by practicing with three, four, and all five fingers.
Stage 3: More challenging songs, note durations, and concepts like sharps, flats, and key signatures to expand your musical understanding.
As the lesson stages progress, letting you play more advanced versions of songs you already know, you can level up your skills while keeping practice fun and familiar. These lessons are fully compatible with a ROLI Piano or with two Piano Ms.

A new homepage for more focused learning
Ever found yourself lost on what things you should be practicing? Need some guidance on where to go next after your last lesson? We’ve also made some changes to the ROLI Learn app home screen to help make your practice sessions more focused and effective.
We're introducing a new, simplified experience by recommending learners one key action to focus on. Plus, we’ve introduced a secondary banner that helps you explore other content. The old home screen has been renamed the ‘Browse’ screen, which still has the same layout if you prefer to use it.
Tips for a successful practice session
With all these new features, we’re sure you’ll want to get started practicing straight away. Here are a few things to keep in mind to get the most out of your practice sessions going forward.
Spend a few days to a week on each lesson, repeating challenges until they feel easy and natural.
Rehearse the Wait mode sections slowly and deliberately.
Practice with the metronome at a comfortable speed.
Once ready, move to full-speed practice.
Don’t hesitate to return to slower speeds if you’ve had a break or are starting a new practice day.
With these updates and tips, you can get a clear sense of how your playing is improving and feel more confident that you’re on the right track. Focus on the parts you need to, see how your finger positioning and posture are shaping up, and tackle songs one step at a time. Soon, you’ll develop strong technique, consistent timing, and real musical confidence, and have fun doing it!
