May Zoean is back with another peek behind the curtain of her songwriting process. With ROLI Piano at her fingertips, she takes us along for the ride as she builds a track from start to finish.

If you’ve ever seen May’s songwriting process in action, you’ll know that she loves taking inspiration from the world around her (we’re particularly fond of her ability to make a track inspired by a cup of tea). This time, May takes inspiration from the sunset outside her window and her recently released vocal and sample pack called ‘Dreamscape’, to create a song from scratch with ROLI Piano.
Quite early on in the process, May discovers sounds she loves. “That was literally the first thing that I played, and it sounded good, so I’m going to record it.”
May quickly takes the track from a simple idea to a song that evolves in waves. Using ROLI Piano, May effortlessly lays down basslines and synths, and chord progressions captured on the fly, following wherever her inspiration takes her, never overthinking but simply enjoying the spontaneity of music creation.
