There's music in the Air(wave)

The first Airwaves are beginning to arrive with new owners around the world, and we’re starting to see more and more incredible videos and photos appearing online. Some of them just happen to be from some of our favourite YouTube creators — all of whom you’ll be familiar with if you’ve been following our own channels lately.

Sam Gutman adds movement to Montage

Sam Gutman will be familiar to regular ROLI-blog readers as the virtuoso keyboard/Seaboard player we’ve previously featured both in his own right and as part of Lauryn Hill’s live band. This time, he’s using Airwave to extend the expressive capabilities of his Yamaha Montage M — a powerful synth in its own right that can now do even more with six added Dimensions of Expression.

Sanjay C plays the air

Over the years, Sanjay C has become one of the most trusted voices in music technology reviews — and it all started with his video on Seaboard Block. Here, he comes full circle with our latest expressive pairing, Airwave and ROLI Piano. Watch him explore his new setup, try Airwave out with MIDI controllers like the Akai MK Mini, and plugins including Omnisphere and Serum, and dig into the software side of things for both music makers and learners.

Taetro does magic tricks

Taetro is another name that requires no introduction for those of you who have been glued to “gear-tube” in recent years. In this video, he takes a freeform approach to discovering all Airwave can do, trying it out with both ROLI Piano and a standard MIDI keyboard, as well as leaving the beaten track to see how it maps to his own custom setups in Ableton Live.
