2025 Grammy nominations - Header

The 2025 Grammy season is on! The nominees have been announced and this year has been a landmark year for pop music. Stand-out pop acts dominated the charts – Grammy legend Beyoncé returns, newcomers Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan rose to superstardom worldwide, and we saw green throughout Brat Summer thanks to Charli XCX.

Get to know the 2025 Grammy hopefuls, and discover the songs from former winners and nominees available to learn and play in the ROLI Learn app.

Chappell Roan

Since the release of her debut album ‘The Rise and Fall of Midwest Princess’, Chappell Roan’s rise to stardom has been meteoric, culminating in her first Grammy nominations.

Garnering attention for her elaborate stage performances inspired by 80s pop and drag, undeniable stage presence, and unapologetic display of queer pride, Chappell Roan has been steadily releasing music since 2014 before being catapulted to fame this year.

While the initial release of ‘Pink Pony Club’ in 2020 was a sleeper hit, Roan proved herself a musical force to be reckoned with the release of her debut album, giving ‘Pink Pony Club’ renewed attention. Her music has seen her supporting Olivia Rodrigo on her ‘Guts’ tour, TV appearances on Jimmy Fallon and SNL, and breaking the record for the largest crowd ever seen at Lollapalooza festival.

We’ve got Roan’s breakthrough hit ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ in the ROLI Learn app, so you can start playing along with the synth-pop masterpiece that marked the turning point of Chappell Roan’s musical career.

Sabrina Carpenter

Making her debut Grammy awards appearance with six nominations for her sixth studio album ‘Short n’ Sweet’, Sabrina Carpenter took the summer by storm with her disco-infused hit ‘Espresso’.

Despite being nominated for Best New Artist, Sabrina Carpenter is far from a newbie. Carpenter had made herself a household name as an actress since 2011, and before the release of Short n’ Sweet, she released five studio albums. Carpenter performed as the support act for Ariana Grande’s ‘Dangerous Woman’ tour in 2017, and on Taylor Swift’s landmark Eras tour after the release of her fifth studio album ‘Emails I Couldn’t Send’.

‘Short n’ Sweet’ solidified Sabrina Carpenter as a global pop sensation, and you can play along to ‘Espresso’, and ‘Please, Please, Please Me’ in the ROLI Learn app, with more to come soon!

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish has maintained a steady presence at the Grammys over the years. Since her first nominations at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards in 2020 and four wins for her seminal debut ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’, Billie Eilish has earned nine wins and 32 nominations. 2024 brings Eilish seven more nominations.

Her third studio album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Vocal Pop Album – play along to ‘Lunch’, ‘Wildflower’ and ‘Birds of a Feather’ from the album in the ROLI Learn app.

Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga

Global pop icons who have made an immense impact on the landscape of modern music, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga are two artists with solid Grammy histories. Bruno Mars has 15 Grammy awards, and Lady Gaga has 13. Both artists are revered for their prolific musical output, showstopping performances and chart-topping hits, and the collaboration between these two musical powerhouses – ‘Die With a Smile’– was met with critical acclaim and earned them two Grammy nominations.

Beyoncé

Holding the titles of the most Grammy-nominated female artist of all time and artist with the most Grammy wins with 99 nominations and 32 wins, Beyoncé stands as the most decorated Grammy artist in the awards' history.

Within her solo career, Beyoncé has garnered wins and nominations across genres ranging from pop to R&B, dance, and electronic music. This year sees Beyoncé return with more nominations in the Country category with the release of her eighth studio album, ‘Cowboy Carter’.

Play along to Beyonce’s songs in the ROLI Learn app including ‘Crazy in Love’ which won Best R&B Song in 2004, and ‘Halo’ which was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2010.

The Beatles

28 years since their last Grammy nomination, 2024 sees The Beatles back in the running for Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance for ‘Now and Then’. The Beatles’ career and impact on the music industry cannot be overstated, with songs that have potentially influenced every artist nominated for awards since the band’s formation. But the band has yet to win Record of the Year.

‘Now and Then’, the band’s final song, was created from a demo tape featuring an unfinished song recording from John Lennon. Using artificial intelligence technology, the same technology that has been widely used in many Beatles restorations over the years, the surviving members of the Beatles – Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr – as well as Giles Martin, son of long-time Beatles Producer, George Martin, collaborated in bringing the final track to life.

The song features vocals from the late Lennon and McCartney, Starr returned for drums, as well as using recorded guitar parts from the late Beatles guitarist George Harrison, recorded in the initial sessions to produce the song in 1995, before his passing in 2001. McCartney also took on some guitar duties, playing melody lines in the style of his former bandmate.

After being left unfinished for three decades, this song’s completion and release marked the end of the band’s musical career, but will this Grammy be their last award for new music?

Play along to classic songs from The Beatles' discography including ‘All You Need Is Love’, ‘Hey Jude’, and ‘Yesterday’.
