Introducing your new ROLI Learn piano coaches
Say hello to some fresh faces appearing soon in the ROLI Learn app.

Did you know that ROLI Learn already contains more than 200 interactive video lessons, all delivered by real piano teachers? What’s more, we’re adding new ones all the time based on fundamental musical concepts, essential playing techniques, and popular songs.
The first ROLI Piano and Airwave units will soon be on their way to our community of learners, and we’ll be releasing a fresh batch of 123 new lessons to coincide with their arrival.
So, we thought it’d be the perfect time to introduce the new coaches: Ruben, Celia, and Alfie. Read on to find out a little about each one, discover their favorite musical styles and songs, and look forward to meeting them in the ROLI Learn app very soon!
Ruben
The lessons may be new, but Ruben should be a familiar face to those of you who have already been learning with ROLI for a while. His journey to the piano is a little less traditional than that of most of our coaches (and a lot less traditional, we’d wager, than most traditional piano teachers). He originally taught himself to play because his high-school rap group needed some beats. He went from dabbling with loops in GarageBand to creating full songs by himself, doing his own sound design, and, of course, playing his own piano parts.
You’ll soon be able to sample Ruben’s encouraging teaching style for yourself with lessons focused on tracks from Toto, Whitney Houston, Adele, and more.
Celia
Celia, in contrast to Ruben, followed a time-tested path to piano mastery. Beginning classical training at just five years old, she already had a firm grasp of the instrument by the time she reached high school and discovered jazz. This opened the door to a newfound sense of musical freedom and a host of collaborative opportunities that ultimately shaped the way she approaches playing today. The best part of Celia’s playing career, she says, is the community she’s found — online as well as in real life.
Celia will shortly be showing you the most efficient, effective way to learn several songs from movies as well as hits by Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Elton John (a personal favorite of hers), and many more.
Alfie
Alfie began his piano-playing journey even earlier than Celia, beginning to learn from just four years old. It would have been even earlier, he says, but his hands were still too small at age three (it’s a shame there was no Piano M in those days). Today, Alfie teaches piano and also plays on studio recordings for international recording artists. He’s a big fan of classical music, but also has a soft spot for early 2000s and current pop music.
Look out for Alfie’s detail-oriented piano instruction appearing in the app soon, including for pieces by Bach, Ludovico Einaudi, and even Ed Sheeran.
Still haven’t checked out the video lessons?
Our existing coaches have already created hours of interactive content that will walk you through the basics and make sure you’re ready to tackle these new lessons as soon as they appear in the app. If you’re learning with two Piano Ms, you’ll even find several courses of dedicated lessons for learning to play with two hands.
On that note, it’s not too late to preorder our new flagship ROLI Piano, which has plenty of room for both hands by itself. Grab it today and get a great introductory price.
