Now there’s way more music in the air.

Give your setup super powers

Since we first announced Airwave, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes to add support for your existing hardware and software. Many of you have asked about third-party compatibility, and after extensive testing we’re pleased to share that, yes — Airwave plays with any MIDI keyboard, as well as any DAW, plug-in or DJ software that supports MIDI CC. We can't wait to see what you do with it. Let us know what you play.

Add Spatial Expression to any MIDI Keyboard with Airwave

How does it work? Simply place Airwave behind your MIDI keyboard and connect it to your computer via USB. Load up Airwave Player (beta), and you’ll be prompted to perform a short, simple calibration process that allows Airwave to recognise your keyboard and track your hands effectively.

Welcome to the party, you’ve just given your keyboard superpowers. You now have access to all five Dimensions of Air: Air Raise, Air Tilt, Air Glide, Air Slide, and Air Flex. In addition to playing your keyboard the conventional way, that means you can conjure up crescendos by raising your hands, widen your sound with a wave, and sweep filters with a flick of the wrist, to mention just a few of the possibilities.

Control your plug-ins with Airwave

Airwave Player (Beta) comes loaded with expertly crafted soundscapes and presets that will transform your sound, and you’ll have access to the base collection no matter which keyboard you’re using. But you’re not limited to just the included sounds.

Airwave communicates with your computer using MIDI, the industry standard protocol for controlling synthesizers, virtual instruments, and more. You can access MIDI CC data from Airwave and use it to control whichever parameters you like in virtually any plug-in. Want to scan through wavetables in Serum? Control dynamics in Kontakt? Open up filters in Pigments? Do all of this, and more, with a wave of your hand.

Best of all, Airwave sends data using 10 MIDI CC numbers — that’s five for each hand. Complex, organic modulation shapes can now be drawn or performed using intuitive, organic hand movements while you play.

Map DAW controls for even more possibilities

Of course, you’re not limited to controlling plug-ins with MIDI CC. You can also map Airwave’s Dimensions of Air to controls in your DAW itself. All major DAWs — including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Bitwig and more — support MIDI CC. They’ll even map to parameters in DJ software like Serato and Traktor.

The possibilities here are limited only by your imagination. Want to pan tracks by spreading your hands? Create crescendos like a conductor? Go ahead.

An open platform for Spatial Expression

We’re committed to opening up the Airwave platform and excited to see what our musical community can do with it. While we can’t share all the details just yet, you can look forward to seeing further updates from us around topics like plug-and-play integration for third-party hardware, Airwave presets for third-party plug-ins, Spatial Expression for DJing, and much more. It’s all on the way.

All of the keys can play. But ROLI plays better.

Airwave is designed for and gives you the most when paired with Seaboard and Piano M. That pairing gives you unmatched control over 9 (with Piano M) or 10 (with Seaboard) dimensions of musical expression. That gives you completely new & unique ways to sculpt your sound and takes every performance to a completely new level.

Best of all, until October 31, you can save up to $259 when you preorder an exclusive Airwave bundle with Seaboard 2, Seaboard M, or Piano M.
